James Alexio is a director in the Restructuring practice based in Singapore.

James leverages over 18 years of experience working in both banking and professional services. He specializes in corporate recovery and restructuring across Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia. He focuses on complex insolvencies and assists stakeholders to manage contentious recoveries and non-performing loan exposures.

Prior to joining Kroll, James was a director in the Stressed Asset Group of Standard Chartered Bank, based in Singapore, where he was responsible for managing both performing and impaired accounts booked in Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. His experience included managing aggregated exposures as large as USD 200 million each, developing and executing both retention (turnaround/upgrade) and recovery-led strategies.

Prior to that, James was employed as an associate director in the corporate recovery and restructuring team of a Big Four accounting firm and an Australian bank.  His experience included acting as the engagement lead of a voluntary administration of an SGX-listed global energy company with substantial coal, oil and gas assets in Australia and the U.S., with creditors (comprising of unsecured convertible noteholders) holding debt claims exceeding USD 400 million. He was also an engagement lead on behalf of a security trustee to a listed financial services company that held over AUD 250 million of funds under management secured by a portfolio of investments (both by way of direct equity investments and debt facilities) in Australian real property. Additionally, James was the engagement lead of a solvency review, which subsequently resulted in the court-ordered receivership of an unlisted public financial services entity, which had over AUD 200 million of funds under management secured by a diverse portfolio of non-conforming first registered mortgages over Australian real property.

James holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Banking/Finance) from the University of New South Wales. He also holds a Graduate Diploma from the Financial Securities Institute of Australia and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.
